OUR STORY BEGINS WITH SHORTY.
Shorty has been our best friend since 2011. At an early age, he was diagnosed with an inflammatory intestinal disease, which made it very difficult for him to absorb proteins and over time led to a host of medical complications. After trying just about every conceivable dog food on the market, including the “nature-based” diets, “fancy” kibble, and prescription canned food, we set out to learn more about canine nutrition and understand the health benefits of fresh food vs ultra-processed alternatives available at pet stores.

And while there are “fresh food” options available in-stores or by delivery, those meals also go through some measure of processing, resulting in their foods being considered “human-grade” rather than the food that we all consume from the grocery store.
